In order to get people to engage with your business, you need to give them a reason to want to. It’s not enough to offer a discount or say you are the best at what you do without the credibility to back this up because your competitors say the same thing. People need to feel that you understand what it is they need and want that you care. If you take a step back and look at your business from the outside and went straight to your company website, what message does your brand say? Is your business trying to sell or are you engaging with your clients. Imagine your business in the following analogy. You are a young man or woman, you have been asked out on your first date by someone who you have just met. They seem nice but you don’t know them. So you go out for dinner, catch a movie, go to the beach etc. Over the next 6 months, you learn to trust the person and fall in love and they propose and you say yes. Sound familiar?

Now, let’s look at the same situation differently. You meet someone, go out on the first date and they propose marriage. Would you say yes? Chances are you wouldn’t. Now, let’s look back at your business and website. Are you proposing on the first date to your customers or are you wining and dining them? With a well-constructed social strategy you should be wining and dining all of your current and prospective clients so that they feel compelled to buy from you, not that you trying to sell to them.
